Customer Review: Great sound, not so great headset

Great bass, okay treble. better headphones than any I've had before. Mic works tolerably, but not well. Reportedly, it sounds muffled. bluetooth works fine with the sony receiver for ipods, but doesn't partner automatically with my blackberry. I can connect the phone to it manually though. Sony really needs to get with the program and use the micro USB connector rather than forcing their customers to have yet another charger for their products.

Just got this adapter today. After using it for 30 minutes, I can no longer stand the bright blinking blue LED. It really drive me nuts (w/ a IBM T60, all USB ports are on the sides). The adapter works fine with decent range IMO. I got my masking tape and spray paint. Wohla! problem solved. Cirago could have done a better job designing this IMO, I definitely don't want to sit in front of someone using this adapter. I would go crazy.

Customer Review: NVM-4050 too many minuses

This unit has too many minuses:



· Sanyo totally ignors e-mail queries. They don't care about their customers.



· After full charge I get "low battery" warning after only 30 minutes of useage.



· No built-in choice of voices. Tom-Tom came with male U.S., female U.S., male U.K., female U.K. 4050 only has one female U.S. voice.



· RIDICULOUS on/off switch. When you turn main power switch "off" it loses the time/date settings every time. If, however, you leave it "on", it quickly drains the power. Simply ludicrous.



· Don't make the mistake of trying to charge the unit when the main power switch is "off" because it does not take a charge unless the main power switch is "on".



· Text-to-speech pronounces "Dr." (drive) as "Doctor". "Turn left on Maple Doctor". Funny but ridiculous.



· My unit came with out of date maps.



· Unit does not come with 120v AC adapter.



· "Keyboard" is not qwerty. it's a-b-c-d-e.... numbers go 0-1-2-3... plus, you cannot access lower case letters without using a trick. Sounds nit-picky but wait 'til you have to enter alot of entries. it's r-e-a-l-l-y annoying.



· Does not display pictures and cannot access traffic reports thru it's built-in Bluetooth.



PROS: compact, big screen, super-sensitive antennae, nice price of $250 at Abe's.

Bluetooth is not the first wireless technology. The reliable and cheap infrared wireless technology was invented in 1998. However, on the downside, two devices using infrared must be within 'line-of-sight', that is, you have to aim it at the receiving device, also infrared is strictly a one-to-one relationship and doesn't allow connection with multiple devices simultaneously.

Though Bluetooth represents futuristic wireless technology, the name 'Bluetooth' is actually 10 centuries old. Named after a Scandinavian King, Harald Bluetooth, who managed to unite several unruly kingdoms, Bluetooth refers to the taming of myriad unruly competing standards by defining one worldwide specification. Bluetooth was founded by Ericsson, IBM, Intel, Nokia and Toshiba, the group that dubbed itself the Bluetooth SIG (Special Interest Group). Now, there are over 2,000 companies providing Bluetooth solutions worldwide.

When shopping around for a Bluetooth-enabled device, just be on the lookout for the official Bluetooth logo, which indicates that the device complies with Bluetooth standards.

Bluetooth devices can be connected to either many-to-one networking or one-to-one networking. An example of the former is a computer using a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard at the same time. An example of the latter is a mobile phone connected to a Bluetooth headset.

Today, it is all about being wireless and Bluetooth allows users to be free of cables and wires. When you travel, you don't have to worry about keeping track of a bagful of cables and you can design your office without worrying about the length of cables and hiding them.

The great thing about Bluetooth is that it is so simple that a non-techie can set it up. Bluetooth doesn't require any special configuration. All you have to do is turn on the Bluetooth and the devices will find one another and connect automatically.

There are hundreds of devices available today that use Bluetooth as a means of wireless connection to networking. However, is Bluetooth right for you? It all boils down to personal preference. Customer Review: Not Worth the Money

I bought this book because it promised broad coverage of the currently most important non cellular, wireless technologies. We'll it delivers on the breadth of information but this is an extremely difficult book to read. Here's why:



1. It's coverage of the wireless subjects seems spotty and disorganized in that it jumps around between hardware and software subjects in an almost aimless way. Generally, the book does not provide sufficient and clear coverage of the system level or architectural issues for a given technology before deep diving into selected areas of technical detail. There tends to be too much detail in many specific technical areas without sufficient discussion of how the pieces work together.



2. It's written in broken English (actually seems to be poorly translated from French);



3. It is very poorly edited (includes many incorrect references to figures and tables, incomplete and broken sentences);



4. It suffers from death by acronyms. The book introduces the words behind the acronym once then never seems to use the "words" again, only the acronym.
